“Historiography for the Future; that is, a methodological intervention that engages historical writings and memories while seeking to (re)create maps for the future… One aim of my Historiography for the Future work is to bring forth ways to humanize research, cultivate “citizen archivists,” and make histories such as the story of IBIs accessible so everyday people can locate themselves, their values, their families, and their communities within larger narratives of Black education. Futuring Black Lives seeks to inspire citizen archivists to seek out maps and mapping tools that their families may hold, and to consider multiple pathways forward.”
